Women's Health
Supporting the whole woman,
not just the symptoms
Your body changes. Your needs change too.
Women's bodies move through enormous transitions throughout life, from puberty and the menstrual years through pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause and menopause.
Sometimes the changes are gradual.
Sometimes they seem to arrive all at once.
Your energy changes. Your sleep changes. Your digestion changes. Your mood changes. Your periods may change. Suddenly, things that once felt easy don't feel quite so easy anymore.
Rather than looking at each symptom separately, I take a whole-body approach to women's wellbeing.
Using kinesiology, I explore the physical, nutritional, nervous system, emotional and energetic aspects of what may be going on for you.

What might bring you to a Women's Health Session?
Women come for support with a wide variety of issues, including:
-
PMS and cycle-related changes
-
Changes in periods or menstrual patterns
-
Feeling exhausted or depleted
-
Sleep difficulties
-
Mood changes or feeling more emotionally reactive
-
Stress and feeling overwhelmed
-
Changes during perimenopause or menopause
-
Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
-
Changes in digestion
-
Bloating and food sensitivities
-
Changes in weight or appetite
-
Feeling less resilient than they used to
-
Feeling “not quite themselves”
-
Wanting to understand and support their body through a period of change
Hormones don't work alone
Hormones are part of a much bigger picture.
Your endocrine system interacts constantly with your nervous system, digestive system, immune system, nutritional status and stress response.
This is particularly noticeable during times of hormonal transition, when the body can have greater demands placed upon it. For example, changes in hormones can coincide with changes in:
-
sleep
-
stress
-
digestion
-
energy
-
mood
-
appetite
-
resilience
Those changes can then influence one another.
This is why I don't approach women's health by looking at one hormone in isolation.
What might we explore?
Every session is individual, but kinesiology may help guide us towards areas such as:
Nutritional Foundations
Your body needs the right raw materials to carry out its everyday processes.
We may explore nutritional requirements and whether particular vitamins, minerals or other nutritional factors appear relevant to your individual picture.
This can be particularly useful when you're feeling depleted, run down or struggling to recover your usual energy.
The Stress Response & Nervous System
Stress can affect sleep, digestion, energy, mood and the way the body responds to hormonal changes.
We may therefore explore the nervous system and stress-response pathways alongside the symptoms you're experiencing.
Sometimes the body needs support with regulation before it can feel ready to do anything else.
Digestion and Elimination
Hormonal wellbeing and digestion are closely connected.
If digestion isn't working well, this can affect how you absorb nutrients and how your body processes and eliminates what it no longer needs.
This means that digestive health may form part of a women's health session, even when digestion wasn't the original reason you came.
Emotional Wellbeing
Hormonal changes can sometimes bring emotions, experiences or patterns closer to the surface.
Equally, ongoing stress and emotional experiences can influence how the body feels and functions.
Kinesiology can provide a gentle way of exploring these layers where appropriate.
Energetic Wellbeing
Where relevant to you, we can also explore energetic patterns through the body's meridians, chakras and other energetic systems.
This is simply another layer of the work and is always guided by your individual needs.
A Gentle, Individual Approach
I don't assume that the same approach will work for every woman.
Two women can arrive with very similar symptoms and have completely different patterns and needs.
Muscle testing helps me follow the individual picture your body is presenting rather than working through a predetermined protocol.
We may start with hormones and end up exploring digestion.
We may start with tiredness and discover that the nervous system or nutritional status is an important part of the picture.
Or we may find that there are several layers that need gently unpicking over time.
There isn't always one single cause.
My approach combines the things I value most about both evidence-informed health and holistic wellbeing.
There is space for nutrition, physiology and the nervous system.
There is also space for emotions, intuition, personal experience and the energetic side of wellbeing.
You don't have to choose between the two.
For me, working holistically means being curious about all of the things that make you you.
You don't have to wait until adulthood to support menstrual health
The teenage years are a time of enormous change. Periods begin, hormones fluctuate, bodies develop and emotions can feel more intense, all while navigating school, friendships, social pressures and growing independence.
We don't have to wait until adulthood, or until menstrual symptoms become difficult, to start understanding and supporting a young woman's wellbeing.
For some girls, their periods may be painful, heavy, irregular or accompanied by significant changes in mood, energy or digestion. For others, it may simply be about learning to understand their changing body and developing a positive relationship with their menstrual cycle.
Kinesiology can provide a gentle, individual approach to exploring the physical, nutritional, nervous system, emotional and energetic aspects of wellbeing.
This may include looking at:
-
Menstrual cycle patterns and PMS
-
Energy and tiredness
-
Nutritional needs during growth
-
Digestion and gut health
-
Sleep
-
Stress and emotional wellbeing
-
Feeling overwhelmed or struggling to regulate
-
Developing a better understanding of the body's changing needs
-
A session for a teenage girl gives her an opportunity to understand her body, listen to what it may be communicating and learn how to support herself as she grows.
I adapt the way I work according to the young person's age, needs and comfort, with appropriate parental involvement throughout. I can also draw on my background in children's emotional wellbeing and holistic therapeutic practice.
What happens in a Women's Wellbeing Session?
Your first session gives us time to talk properly about what's happening and begin exploring the areas that may need support.
Sometimes the body needs time, which is why I generally recommend a series of at least three sessions. This gives us space to work through the different layers of your wellbeing rather than trying to address everything in one appointment.
Sometimes one area needs supporting before another can shift.
And sometimes simply understanding the connections between your symptoms can be incredibly helpful.
Kinesiology is complementary and isn't intended to diagnose, treat or replace medical care.
If you are already receiving medical support, including treatments such as HRT during perimenopause or menopause, my role is to work alongside that care and explore the wider picture of your wellbeing.
Your body is constantly communicating. Sometimes we just need to slow down enough to listen.
