Digestion
Supporting digestion by exploring the whole picture
Your digestion is about much more than your gut.
Bloating, reflux, constipation, loose stools, food sensitivities, nausea or simply feeling that your digestion isn't working as it should can be frustrating, particularly when you've already tried changing your diet or cutting out foods and still don't feel quite right.
At The Kinesiology Room, I look beyond the digestive symptom itself.
I explore the different factors that may be influencing how your body is functioning, bringing together nutrition, physiology, the nervous system, emotional wellbeing and energetic patterns.
A holistic approach doesn't just ask “What's wrong with your gut?”
It asks:
“Which system may be out of balance, and what support does it need to restore optimal function?”

When Digestion doesn't feel quite right
You might come for support with things such as:
-
Bloating or abdominal discomfort
-
Constipation or irregular bowel movements
-
Loose stools or changes in bowel habits
-
Reflux or heartburn
-
Feeling overly full after eating
-
Food sensitivities or reactions
-
Nausea
-
Feeling that certain foods no longer agree with you
-
Digestive symptoms that seem to fluctuate with stress
-
Low energy alongside digestive problems
-
A feeling that you've “tried everything” but haven't found the missing piece
Looking at the bigger picture
The digestive system doesn't work in isolation.
Your gut, nervous system, hormones, immune system, liver, gallbladder and nutritional status are all interconnected. Stress, sleep, emotions and your wider environment can also influence how you digest, absorb and respond to food.
This is why I don't use a one-size-fits-all approach.
During a session, muscle testing is used as a guide to explore which areas may need attention and where to begin.
Depending on what comes up, this might include looking at:
Digestion and Physiology
We may explore aspects of digestive function such as stomach acid, digestive enzymes, the liver and gallbladder, intestinal function, the microbiome and bowel movements.
This can help us consider whether there are areas where your digestive system may need additional support.
Nutrition and Nourishment
We can explore nutritional requirements, possible imbalances and whether particular nutrients may be relevant to your individual picture.
This may include exploring foods that appear to be causing a response, nutritional factors that may be influencing digestion, and areas relating to microbiome balance and nutrient absorption.
Where appropriate, I may make nutritional suggestions alongside the kinesiology work.
The Gut Brain Connection
Your digestive system and nervous system are in constant communication.
Stress can affect digestion, and digestive discomfort can in turn affect how you feel.
We may therefore explore the nervous system, vagal pathways, microbiome and the body's stress response alongside digestive symptoms.
Emotional Patterns
Sometimes the body can continue to hold patterns associated with experiences, stress or emotions.
This doesn't mean that your symptoms are “all in your head”.
Rather, emotional wellbeing is one part of the bigger picture.
Where relevant to you, this is also an area where I may work metaphysically, exploring whether there are emotional themes or patterns that may be connected with how your digestive system is responding.
Kinesiology can provide a gentle way of exploring these layers without needing to force or analyse everything consciously.
The Energetic Picture
I also work with the energetic aspects of digestion.
This may include exploring meridians, chakras and other energetic patterns, depending on what is relevant to you and your session.
You don't need to have a particular spiritual belief system to benefit from the work. We simply work with the approach that is indicated as supportive.
What happens in a Digestive Health Session?
Your session begins with a conversation about what's been going on for you ... your symptoms, history, lifestyle, food, stress levels and anything else that feels relevant.
I then use muscle testing to help guide the session.
Rather than working through a rigid checklist, I follow the patterns that emerge and look at how the different systems may be interacting.
For one person, the focus might be predominantly nutritional and digestive.
For another, the nervous system may be an important part of the picture.
For someone else, emotional or energetic patterns may sit alongside the physical symptoms.
Often, it's a combination.
This is what I mean by working holistically.
I bring together the physical, biochemical, emotional and energetic aspects of your wellbeing rather than looking at each symptom in isolation.
Kinesiology isn't about replacing medical care.
If your symptoms need medical investigation, I will always encourage you to speak with your GP or appropriate healthcare professional.
My role is complementary. I use kinesiology to help explore patterns and areas that may benefit from additional support, alongside appropriate medical care where needed.
Sometimes the most useful thing we can do is simply start to understand the bigger picture.
